Paragliding – embark on solo and tandem flights
Would you like to combine cross-country traveling with an adrenaline flight on a sunny day?
If you are brave enough to embark on such an adventure, you are welcome at the Kanja Free Flight Club. In Dolenjske Toplice, you have two airstrips for paragliders - the Peter airstrip on Straški hrib and the airstrip on Sedlata gorica, the highest peak of Pogorelec.
The path to the Peter airstrip begins in Dolenje Polje, where the first information board will direct the aspiring adventurer towards the many vineyard cottages that are scattered on the slope and greet every traveler. A forest path and a gravel road wind up to the top. With their diligent work, the volunteers cleaned the plain and arranged it nicely for the safe take-off of the paragliders. The airstrip was opened in 2005. The Peter airstrip is located above Dolenje Polje at an altitude of 464 m, southeast position with a view over Toplice valley, towards Ljubno and Gorjanci. The landing area from the Peter airstrip is located immediately behind the fodder silo in the direction of Straža at an altitude of 181 m. Or on the southern side of the road junction between the villages of Dolenje and Gorenje Polje. It is marked with signs for a parking space and a landing place. A wind bag is also installed, which is clearly visible. The height difference between the start and landing is 283 m.
This is not the only hiking trail in the municipality of Dolenjske Toplice that offers you the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional and unique view of Toplice valley that not every tourist experiences. The route to Sedlata Gorica (Pogorelec), which runs along forest paths, offers, in addition to paragliding airstrip, other experiences for all who are interested in the rich history of this area, such as monuments of the resistance movement from the WWII, the remains of abandoned Gottcheer villages, flora and fauna, even wild garlic pesto if you hurry while it is still growing in all its luxuriance.
The Kanja Free Flight Club has also provided for a lot of romance - at the top, lovers will find a modest shelter and a love bench, with a wonderful view that is perfect for taking photos.
