Jazbina pri Podturnu, 8350 Dolenjske Toplice
Jazbina, literally meaning "the badger`s sett" or burrow, is a large horizontal underground karst cave with two halls, interesting and explored already in the late 19th century.
Without proper equipment and guidance, the indoor tour is not safe. The cave is an important refuge for bats and part of the Natura 2000 protected area, so we do not visit it in summer and winter.
The Jazbina Cave is a large horizontal karst cave 103 m long with two halls, explored and interesting in the past. Jazbina, literally meaning "the badger`s sett" or burrow, is a large horizontal underground karst cave with two halls, interesting and explored already in the late 19th century. The cave gives the impression of natural wildness and untamedness, as the stalactite decorations are rarer, and in the foreground are traces of long-term water action and mechanical processes. Due to its shape and microclimate, the Jazbina Cave is also interesting from a biological point of view, as it offers shelter to various cave organisms. Without appropriate equipment, an internal tour is not safe.
Puhavnik or "blow-pipe" is a place where air blows from the earth from the lower-lying Jazbina. It is warmer in winter and cooler in summer than the surrounding area.
Jazbina and Puhavnik are two points of the Rožek Nature Learning Trail.

CAUTION: In Kočevski Rog, always stick to marked and maintained trails and forest roads! You can only enter the caves accompanied by experienced cavers, provided that you have all the necessary equipment and permits, unless it is a strictly protected area, where entry is not allowed at all. Tours are only at your own risk. We advise you to always first inquire about the possibility of visiting with the Slovenian Caving Association or the local caving association in Novo mesto.
There are some strictly protected areas, such as Podstenice Sink-hole, which is protected as a natural monument and a forest reserve. Here you can only take a careful peek from the edge. Similarly the entrance into the Jazbina cave is generally forbidden, as it is a known bat refuge, which is why it is not visited during summer and winter.
